    Phos-Prep PP 218

    Phos-Prep PP 218 is a cold immersion paint stripper which has been developed to overcome the problems associated with more stubborn coatings such as stoved enamel and epoxy polyester powder systems.

    Phos-Prep PP 218 may be used on both ferrous and non ferrous metals by breaking down the coating with minimal attack on the base metal; DO NOT use on plastic. This is ideal for jig stripping and rework reclamation where multicoated films encountered require this strong acid accelerator and penetrant blend, for example; alloy wheel refurbishment. Care should be taken when using the Phos-Prep PP 218, when in contact with skin please apply a calcium gluconate antidote cream to prevent active ingredients causing severe damage to skin tissue.

    Phos-Prep PP 30 HT

    Phos-Prep PP 30 HT is a fortified, high temp, synthetic lubricant for chains/roller ball bearing chains and conveyors operating in temperatures >300℃, which gives excellent load carrying properties and resistance to corrosive atmospheres. Phos-Prep PP 30 HT is very adhesive to metal surfaces even in the presence of large amounts of water and is non-corrosive on steel, copper, bronze, etc. Phos-Prep PP 30 HT is H1 registered for use inside food plants and incidental contact.

    Phos-Prep PP 60 S

    Phos-Prep PP 60 S is an organic Methylene Chloride free paint stripper for the removal of polyester paint finishes from ferrous and non ferrous metal substrates. (Phos-Prep PP 60 S will remove some epoxy – polyester paints with low epoxy contents).

    Phos-Prep PP 60 S is safe to use on multi metal applications however we do recommend testing on site to ensure no surface damage occurs to sensitive substrates.

    Phos-Prep PP 60 S can be used at temperatures from ambient to 60℃.

    Phos-Prep PP 60 S is based on a high boiling point solvent (b.p 200℃), hence the low volatility when used at a temperature of 50℃ C. When blended with alkaline accelerators it is very effective for the removal of polyester paint finishes. Despite being alkaline based the non aqueous formulation of the Phos-Prep PP 60 S ensures that there is no attack on aluminium parts.

    Phos-Prep PP 90 S

    Phos-Prep PP 90 S is an organic Methylene Chloride free paint stripper for the removal of polyester paint finishes from ferrous and non ferrous metal substrates, specifically formulated to remove the various coatings on aluminium wheels. (Phos-Prep PP 90 S will remove a variety of epoxy – polyester paints with epoxy contents).

    Phos-Prep PP 90 S is safe to use on multi metal applications however we do recommend testing on site to ensure no surface damage occurs to sensitive substrates, as severe attack on aluminium parts will take place.

    Phos-Prep PP 90 S can be used at temperatures from ambient to 60℃.

    Phos-Prep PP 90 S is based on a high boiling point solvent (b.p 200℃), hence the low volatility when used at a temperature of 60℃. When blended with alkaline and aqueous accelerators it is very effective for the removal of polyester paint finishes. Despite being alkaline / aqueous based the formulation is activated, therefore severe attack of aluminium substrates will take place.

    Phos-Prep PP 920

    Phos-Prep PP 920 is a “dry-in-place” replacement for chromate-based products for the pre-treatment of aluminium and aluminium alloys, as well as magnesium and zinc (ie: galvanised surfaces). A very pale surface finish is produced, eliminating the possibility of pre-treatment staining being visible through the final coating. PP920 provides excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance after subsequent painting or powder coating, and requires no post-rinsing. It is said to be ideal for hard water areas. The process operates at temperatures between 15℃ and 35℃, with an immersion time of between two and three minutes. It is also suitable for spray application between 10 and 30 seconds.

    Process time is similar to an existing Alochrom process, which means that existing plant layouts or process times do not have to be altered. It eliminates the post rinse stage resulting in no effluent.

    The Phos-Prep PP 920 process requires pre-cleaning of the aluminium substrate, either with the company’s PP932 ambient acid etch degreaser or PP933 alkaline aluminium etch degreaser. These products remove the oxides present on the surface to allow the correct conversion reaction to take place and ensure effective bonding of the paint or powder to the treated surface.

    Consumption rates for the above products are 10ml/m2 of substrate treated (ie: 100 square metres will use one litre of product). The products PP920, PP932 and PP933 can be used in existing equipment immersion or multi-stage spray application and control is simple with full acid and free acid titration. The processes meet BS6496 and BS EN ISO 12206 2004 (Paint and Varnishes Coatings of Aluminium for architectural purposes) although PTS recommends potential users to undertake independent testing.

    Phos-Prep PP 931

    Phos-Prep PP 931 Low foaming cleaner is formulated for the spray or immersion cleaning of steel or hot dip galvanised steel prior to further pre-treatment. The system is designed to produce a chemically clean surface to give uniformity of reaction during subsequent processing. It is particularly suited to spray operations, because of its low foaming characteristics. Extremely efficient in high pressure zones exceeding 18 psi.

    Phos-Prep PP 932

    The Phos-Prep PP 932 sulphuric acid based cleaner/etch has been specially formulated to remove scales and tarnish from aluminium to produce a chemically clean surface.

    Although Phos-Prep PP 932 contains an inbuilt surfactant system, it may be advisable to clean heavily oiled work in Phos-Prep PP 934 (an alkali immersion cleaner), followed by a rinse, prior to acid etching. Alternatively, additions of Phos-Prep PP975 & Phos-Prep PP976 surfactant additive’s may be added to the Phos-Prep PP 932 working bath.

    The etch rate from the PHOS-PREP PP 932 treatment can be varied by adjustments to the immersion time, the bath temperature and bath concentrations. Acid resistant materials such as polypropylene, UPVC or polyethylene are preferred.

    The Phos-Prep PP 932 bath is normally operated at ambient temperature, at a concentration of 2% to 10% v/v with a process time of 2 to 10 minutes.

    For faster process times, or a deeper etched finish, the bath can be operated at stronger concentrations, elevated temperatures or longer process times.

    The optimum bath strength should be maintained to produce consistent results. Additions to the bath can be made on the basis of an assessment of the finish of standard of work, or by analysis of bath concentrations.

    Following treatment in the Phos-Prep PP 932 bath, the work should be adequately rinsed prior to further processing.

    Phos-Prep PP 933

    Phos-Prep PP 933 Alkaline Etch Cleaner is formulated for the spray or immersion pre-treatment of aluminium on powder coating plants. The system is designed to produce a chemically clean aluminium surface to give uniformity of reaction during subsequent processing.

    Phos-Prep PP 933 Alkaline Etch Cleaner is a powder, and a new bath is made up by its addition to warm water to make a bath concentration of between 10 grams/litre and 40 grams/litre, depending on the cleaning and etch rate required.

    The solution should be operated at temperatures between 45℃ and 70℃. Typical immersion times are 3 to 8 minutes, depending on the amount of etching required.

    Phos-Prep PP 933 Alkaline Etch Cleaner is designed for plants that have little or no fume extraction.

    The process tank and pipe-work may be constructed from mild steel and light metal fittings must be avoided.

    Phos-Prep PP 936 is a hydrochloric cleaner and deoxidiser system designed to ensure a completely clean surface on steel & cast iron surfaces. Phos-Prep PP 936 is used as an activator before Iron / zinc phosphates such as Phos-Prep PP970IZ & PP970M.

    Phos-Prep PP 936 may be used to remove scale and white rust before chemical pre-treatment and painting/powder coating, when used at 2% in water. Care must be taken on zinc based surfaces not to exceed determined dwell times as removal of the zinc coating will occur.

    Phos-Prep PP 938

    To produce a uniformly etched surface on aluminium for anodising or powder coating, it is necessary to effectively clean the work surface. The cleaning process is required to remove magnesium oxide films, cutting oils, finger marks, inks, etc. As by inhibiting the etch reaction they can produce patchy, masked and coarse surfaces.

    Phos-Prep PP 938 powder cleaner is our strongest alkaline cleaner that consequently will etch the surface of aluminium when operated at high temperatures.

    Phos-Prep PP 970IZ

    Phos-Prep 970IZ is a liquid, heavy iron/zinc phosphate process for the treatment of iron and steel.

    Phos-Prep 970IZ produces a phosphate surface with the ability to absorb large quantities of subsequently applied organic products. When sealed with oils in this way the process gives excellent corrosion protection. It is also suitable for rubber bonding.

    The process requires direct extraction and is essentially non-hazardous in use when used as directed.

    A Class 2 heavy iron / zinc phosphate process that gives a coating weight in excess of 5g/m², which meets the requirements DEF STAN 03-11/3 Class 1.

    Phos-Prep PP 970M

    Phos-Prep 970 M is a liquid, heavy iron/manganese phosphate process for the treatment of iron and steel. It has excellent anti-galling properties and the finish is suitable for offshore and automotive applications.

    A Class 1 iron-manganese phosphate that gives a coating weight < 7g/m², which meets the requirements DEF STAN 03-11/3 Class 1.

    The fine uniform crystal structure acts as an ideal lubricant carrier for running in applications.

    Phos-Prep 970 M produces a phosphate surface with the ability to absorb large quantities of subsequently applied organic products. When sealed with oils in this way the process gives excellent corrosion protection.

    The process requires direct extraction and is essentially non-hazardous in use when used as directed.

    Phos-Prep PP 971 T

    A completely new chromium-free conversion coating. This clean technology product is a direct replacement for traditional pre-treatments on aluminium, mild steel and zinc based substrates.

    Phos-Prep 971 T is a zirconium/titanium based single-stage process, which runs like a conventional iron phosphate conversion coating. It has been shown in independent tests to provide up to a 1000 hours neutral salt spray on iron and steel, and 3000 hours on aluminium, when used with a rinse seal Phos-Prep PP 973.

    Phos-Prep 971 T is accelerated and gives a very high conversion coating efficiency. This ensures minimal removal of material from the metal surface resulting in very low levels of sludge and a long bath life (up to three years) - Bath consumption is as much as 50% less than traditional phosphate baths. Only weekly checking and infrequent replenishment is required. Solution concentrations are easily controlled by simple titration. Due to the high efficiency of the product, energy requirements are also reduced. VOC, BOD and COD emissions are also minimised.

    An advanced chrome-free, multi-metal pre-treatment technology to replace high cost and ecologically harmful iron and zinc phosphates.

    The product is suitable for either soak or spray application and as it is a single-stage process (the cleaning-stage is eliminated). This reduces process time, cost, and increases throughput. The resultant conversion coat is resistant to high temperature accelerated adhesion tests.

    Early users of Phos-Prep 971 T include automotive components, shop fittings, medical cabinet manufacturers, powder coating subcontractors and architectural aluminium manufacturers. The conventional iron and zinc phosphate process has been replaced with this new clean technology process and have resulted in production benefits, with improved surface coating performance.

    Phos-Prep PP 972 LT

    Phos-Prep PP 972 LT is a low temperature < 30℃, complete chrome free conversion coating for use on aluminium extrusions, aluminium and white metal engineered parts, aluminium coil, steel and zintec to greatly enhance corrosion protection and adhesion of subsequently applied coatings. This ensures the absolute minimum removal of aluminium from the metal surface during the conversion coating, which gives low levels of sludge and long bath life. Phos-Prep PP 972 LT is a fully built product which cleans and conversion coats in a single stage, greatly reducing process times and cost. Product concentrations are easily controlled by simple titration or by conductivity or pH. The resulting conversion coats are resistant to high temperature accelerated adhesion test – heating in water to 125℃ for 2 hours giving no loss of topcoat adhesion.

    Phos-Prep PP 973 is a reactive, organo-metallic, non-chrome final rinse that is formulated for use in the final stage of conventional spray or immersion phosphate systems. PP 973 has shown significant improvements over conventional chrome and non-chrome rinses in humidity and salt spray performance on a variety of substrates.

    Phos-Prep PP 975 / 976 / 977 / 979 LT

    Phos-Prep PP 975 / 976 / 977 / 979 LT are detergent additives that as a blend of surfactant specifically formulated for use with Phos-Prep products to aid in degreasing and cleaning.

    Phos-Prep 977 soak detergent additives are a sophisticated blend of surfactants specifically formulated for use with spray pre-treatment processes to improve the degreasing capability. It may be used with lightweight iron and zinc phosphates as well as alkaline and acid cleaners.

    Phos-Prep PP 978

    Phos-Prep PP 978 is a surfactant additive to reduce the build up of foam, when spray & immersion baths are agitated they generate high levels of foam due to operating bath solutions at temperatures lower than 30℃.

    Phos-Prep PP 978 will reduce the surface tension of the process bath, and after addition of Phos-Prep PP 978 the level of foam build up will gradually reduce. Should the processes bath temperatures continually be lower than recommended, regular additions of Phos-Prep PP 978 should be made with standard process solutions.

    Phos-Prep PP 981 / 982

    Phos-Prep PP 981 has been specially formulated to produce quality preparation coatings on steel and galvanised steel surfaces prior to painting, at temperatures of 35° C

    Phos-Prep PP 981 solution produces a medium weight uniform zinc preparation conversion coating which gives excellent adhesion and flexibility whilst providing salt spray, detergent and humidity resistance.

    Phos-Prep PP 981 is supplied as a single pack green coloured liquid for galvanised steel and as a two pack product for plain steel surfaces.

    Phos-Prep PP 981 is suitable for both spray and immersion processes.

    Phos-Prep PP 983 LC

    Phos-Prep PP 983 LC is used when steel is cut using the laser method. A carbon deposit is left upon the edge of the surface as a by-product. If not removed, the powder coat will result in paint adhesion failure on the edge of the component

    PreTreatment Solutions Ltd has developed a pre-treatment process that will remove all loose scale and leave the edge with a phosphate to maximise paint adhesion. It can be used in conventional spray lines or immersion systems.

    Phos-Prep PP 983 LC is a degreaser specifically engineered for Laser Cutting Applications

    PP983LC will eliminate:

    • Poor edge adhesion for powder coating

    • Labour intensive 'fettling' of edges to achieve good powder adhesion

    Phos-Prep PP 984

    Phos-Prep PP 984 phosphate has been specially formulated to produce phosphate coatings on steel, zinc and aluminium surfaces prior to; powder coating, wet painting, and Anodic and Cathodic (E Coat) processes.

    The Phos-Prep PP 984 solution produces a medium weight uniform zinc phosphate conversion coating which gives excellent adhesion and flexibility whilst providing salt spray, detergent and humidity resistance after painting.

    Phos-Prep PP 984 is supplied as a single pack liquid system and is suitable for both spray and immersion processes. Additive packs are available for the system, the use of which are advised for processing aluminium alloys and when acidity regulation is necessary.

    Operating the PHOS-PREP PP 984 will produce uniform phosphate coatings, with coating weights of between 1 and 5 g/m2, assuming uniform processing conditions.

    The Phos-Prep PP 984 will offer performance > 1000 hours on subsequent paint applications in compliance to BS117 Neutral Salt Spray testing.

    Phos-Prep PP 991

    Phos-Prep PP 991 is a sophisticated, high coating weight, iron phosphate process. It will simultaneously degrease and phosphate with its built in detergent system. Phos-Prep PP 991 is a multi-metal process that will produce phosphate coatings on aluminium, galvanised steel, mild steel and zintec.

    When painted with either powder coating or conventional wet paint systems the corrosion resistance is superior to that of a conventional pre-treatment process. 1000 hours neutral salt spray to ASTM B 117 has been achieved.

    The process gives a coating weight of between 0.8 and 1.2 g/m²., which meets the requirements of BS3189: 1973 Type 4 and DEF STAN 03-11/1 Class 4.

    Phos-Prep PP 992 / 995

    Phos-Prep PP 992 / 995 are liquid, low temperature, lightweight iron phosphate process deigned to simultaneously degrease and phosphate in one operation. The process will treat iron, steel, zinc and aluminium in mixed metal production.

    Phos-Prep PP 995 has been developed with a built-in inhibitor, this allows the process to be used in single stage washing machine eliminating the water rinse stage.

    Phos-Prep PP 995 produces a phosphate surface which when finished with an organic coating substantially increases the adhesion and durability when compared with conventional alkali or solvent cleaned surfaces.

    The process gives a coating weight of between 0.2 and 0.5 g/m²., which meets the requirements of BS3189: 1973 Type 4 and DEF STAN 03-11/1 Class 4.

    Phos-Prep PP 995 is suitable for both spray and immersion applications.

    A Light Iron phosphate that gives a coating weight of between 0.2 and 0.5 g/m²., which meets the requirements of BS3189: 1973 Type 4 and DEF STAN 03-11/1 Class 4.

    Phos-Prep PP 996 Aluminium accelerator is added to process solutions where by additional etching of the aluminium or zinc based surface is required, thus aiding in the removal of natural oxides that may be present on the substrate.

    Phos-Prep PP Barrier Coat BC100 / BC300

    Phos-Prep BC100

    Phos-Prep BC100 is a water-soluble barrier coat, formulated for use in Pressure Type Mask Washers. The removal of solvent-based paint is dependent on barrier concentration, heat, impingement and tooling condition.

    The recommended use concentration is between 90g and 180g of Phos-Prep BC100 per litre of water. The temperature should be between 80℃ and 91℃, depending on the type of paint being removed.

    Phos-Prep BC300

    Phos-Prep BC300 is a water-soluble barrier coat, formulated for use in Pressure Type Mask Washers. This product is specially formulated for use with water borne paints, but can also be used with most solvent-borne paints. The removal and filtration of paint is dependent on barrier concentration, heat, impingement and tooling condition.

    The recommended use concentration is between 90 and 180g of Phos-Prep BC300 per litre of water and the temperature should be between 82℃ and 88℃. We recommend the use of De-ionised water, but this product can be used with tap water.

    Phos-Prep PP TW40

    Phos-Prep PP TW-40 is a clear blue solution that is applied to galvanised steel to improve the adhesion of paint or powder coatings. It has been specially formulated to be an equivalent system to the ‘T’ Wash product developed by British Rail, but with an improved solvent balance to enhance performance.
